David W. Zizik is Zizik Powers' founding member and its managing attorney. He has defended lawsuits in Greater Boston, Providence, Worcester, Springfield, Cape Cod, New Bedford, Fall River and the New England Region for more than 35 years. David has received the highest ("AV Preeminent") rating from the Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory, and is listed in Best's Directory of Recommended Insurance Attorneys. He has represented property & casualty and commercial lines insurers and their insureds, self-insured businesses and third-party administrators, on more than 3,000 litigated cases in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Hampshire and Maryland. His practice involves insurance coverage litigation, "bad faith" and unfair settlement practices act claims, tort and product liability defense, catastrophic accidents, trucking accidents, construction defect claims, construction litigation, premises liability, commercial and business disputes. David's focus is on resolving lawsuits expeditiously through high quality, reasonably priced and efficiently managed legal work.
In 1981, David served as Minority Counsel to the Rhode Island Senate. He has worked to develop and implement alternative billing arrangements within the insurance industry. David has presented nationally on the topics related to insurance coverage and "bad faith" litigation, the "Paperless Law Office" and related management issues, to DRI - The Voice of the Defense Bar, the New Hampshire Federal Bar Association, the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel, and the Association of Defense Trial Attorneys (ADTA). In 2006, he was awarded an ADTA Meritorious Service Award for his work with ADTA members in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. David has served as Vice Chair of the Pastoral Council at St. Theresa Parish in Sherborn, Massachusetts; and has published articles on topics relating to the Catholic Church in the National Catholic Reporter. He serves as a Judge in the Client Counseling Competition at Boston College Law School.
